Employee Experience Manager

Reports To: Director of Administration & Process Enhancement

Job Description/Overview:

We are a special events company that provides signature events for non-profit organizations throughout the United States, Canada, and abroad. Participants raise donations for a non-profit in exchange for the life-changing opportunity to rappel ‘Over The Edge’ of a local high-rise building. We have 20+ full-time staff working between our Halifax office and remotely across the US; we also employ 70+ part-time/casual operations and sales staff globally.

The Employee Experience Manager will work closely with the Leadership Team to develop our people by attracting, onboarding and retaining current and prospective team members; and enhance our culture through the creation and implementation of progressive best practices. They will serve as the first point of contact for all HR matters, live our values, champion our agreements, and help shape our robust culture.

Breakdown of Job Responsibilities:

Core Functions:

  • Maintain accurate and up to date personnel files; ensure the HR database is current, accurate and complies with legislation
  • Onboarding and offboarding; work with other departments to ensure a seamless new hire experience and keep these processes up to date
  • Be the first point of contact for all HR-related questions from staff and be a confidential open-door resource for all teams
  • Assist leadership with performance management across all teams
  • Update and create OTE HR best practices
  • Support staff recognition and incentive initiatives
  • Develop and support staff training initiatives through our online learning system (TalentLMS) and in-person training events; develop and monitor departmental training plans
  • Track the completion, expiration/renewal, and reimbursements for our technical team’s industry certifications to make sure they are up to date
  • Administer HR-related documentation, such as contracts of employment
  • Manage our employee drug testing program
  • Support recruitment efforts for all departments (job postings, screenings, candidate inquiries, interview scheduling/support); work with recruitment agencies as necessary
  • Organize staff social and team-building activities
  • Stay curious about ways to improve our HR systems by staying abreast of HR best practices, and recommend improvements where you see them
  • Administer and analyze staff surveys
  • Work with management to keep departmental manuals up to date
  • Support all departments to attract, onboard and retain top talent in Nova Scotia and the US
  • Empower employees to learn, develop their skills, speak up, and do their best work

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma in Human Resources or related degree
  • 2-5-years’ experience in your current or a similar role
  • Strong skills in standard Microsoft software is required (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with Salesforce and/or SharePoint is an asset
  • Valid passport

Working Conditions:

  • Halifax head office, 40 hours/week; option to work a reduced schedule (4 days/week, 32 hours)
  • Dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Occasional travel within Canada and the US to meet with teams or for company retreats
